The da Vinci Standard
da Vinci is a community school based on common sense and human dignity. It is important that all students and their parents/guardians clearly under stand and accept the following expectations:
I will help my student come to school ready to learn, with school bag, planner, folders, writing utensils and paper.
I will use techniques to help my student become responsible.
I will track my student’s grades and assignments on PowerSchool.
I understand that if my student is well below academic achievement level, they will be expected to complete remediation courses before school, after school and/or throughout the summer.
I understand that if my student is not being successful (less than 70% mastery in each class), they will be expected to attend after school studying and/or tutoring sessions until they become successful.
I will find transportation for my student.
I understand that if my student does not give their best effort and show responsibility to learn, they may be dismissed from the program.
I will do everything in my power to make sure that my student comes to school and goes to all classes every day.
If my student needs to be absent, I will call the school, and I understand it is their responsibility to get all missing assignments.
I will make sure that my student has transportation to and from school.
I will track my student’s attendance with PowerSchool,and I understand that if they have more than 10 absences in any class, an attendance appeal must be filled out, and they may have to make up hours.
I understand that if my student does not come to school regularly, they may be dismissed from the program.
I will do everything in my power to help my student come to school neat, clean and dressed appropriately for school and the workplace.
I understand that cleavage, sagging pants and shoulder or strap baring tops are not accepted.
I understand that skirts and shorts must be 4” above knee, and shirts must be 3” on shoulder.
I understand that leggings must be worn with apparel that is 4”above knee.
I understand that it is not acceptable to change after arriving at school.
I understand that my student will be sent home if they are not clean or dressed appropriately.
I understand that if my student continues to dress inappropriately, they may be dismissed from the program.
I will encourage my student to keep electronic devices turned off during class time.
If I need to contact my student I will call the main office during school hours.
I understand that electronic devices will be confiscated and I may have to pick them up.
I understand that repeated offenses may result in dismissal from the program.
I agree to allow my student to access the Internet and to have his/her materials published to the World Wide Web.
I am aware the below activities are not permitted and could result in further disciplinary action:
-Sending/displaying offensive messages or pictures,using obscene language, or harassing, insulting or attacking others
-Giving personal information, such as complete name, phone number,address or identifiable photo, without permission from teacher and parent or guardian
-Damaging or modifying computers, computer systems or computer networks
-Violating copyright laws
-Using others’ passwords or trespassing in others’folders, work or files
-In addition, students must report misuse of technology a teacher or administrator
I will do everything in my power to encourage my student to demonstrate appropriate behavior and use appropriate language at all times.
I understand that if my student continues to have inappropriate behavior, they may be expected to attend counseling, or may be dismissed from the program.
District policy prohibits the use,possession, concealment, distribution or intent to distribute, or sale of any tobacco or non-tobacco nicotine product in all school-related situations, by any person, at any time, in any location, and at any event. Tobacco nicotine products include chew, cigars, cigarettes, hookah use, loose tobacco, e-cigarettes, snus, orbs, and nicotine strips.
I will do everything in my power to discourage my student from smoking.
I understand that smoking is prohibited during school hours, on school property, or at any school related activities.
If my student is caught smoking, I understand that they may be expected to attend a smoking cessation program or may be dismissed from the program.DRUGS/ALCOHOL POLICY
I will do everything in my power to discourage my student from the use of drugs or alcohol.
I understand that drug use before or during school hours, or at any school related activities, may result in dismissal from the program.
If my student uses drugs or alcohol, including synthetic drugs that may be legal, I understand that they may be expected to attend a drug and/or alcohol abuse program or may be dismissed from the program.
I understand that if my student brings a weapon to school, they may be dismissed from the program.
PROCEDURES - for assisting students who are not meeting the Standards and Expectations
I understand that my student will be removed from class until problem is resolved.
If the problem continues,I understand that my student may be designated to in school or out of school suspension until resolved, and possibly until a parent conference can be arranged.
I understand that the problem must be resolved for the student to continue attending da Vinci.
I understand that multiple problems including, but not limited to: learning expectations, attendance,inappropriate behavior, etc., may result in dismissal from the program.
FAMILY INVOLVEMENT POLICY
I understand that being involved in my student’s education is critical to their success.
I will attend school activities, meetings to discuss student learning and behavior issues, and Student/Parent/Teacher conferences.
I will track attendance, assignments and grades online with PowerSchool.
If at all possible, I will volunteer and/or donate supplies.
